On the Academy Education of Zhan Ganquan（论湛甘泉的书院教育）

In his academy Zhan Ganquan both spread the philosophy of the mind and trained young philosophers,which significantly developed the academy system and the philosophy of the mind in the Ming Dynasty.In his 55 years devotion to academy education,Zhan established and renovated 22academies in Guangdong,and 13 in other provinces.Thanks to Zhan’s efforts,the Ming Dynasty witnessed the number of academies in Guangdong rising to the greatest among Chinese provinces except Jiangxi and Zhejiang,and the prosperity of Guangdong academies greatly promoted Lingnan culture and scholarship.The achievements of Zhan’s academy education came from his efficient management,his tenets stressing identification with heavenly principle,and his educational idea highlighting both morality and learning.
湛甘泉泉的书院既传播了心学，又培养了年轻的哲学家，使明代的书院制度和心学得到了长足的发展，在他55年的书院教育生涯中，在广东建立和改造了22所书院，而在其他省份13个，由于湛的努力，明朝见证了除江西和浙江之外，广东各省市的书院数量上升到最大的省份。广东书院的兴盛，极大地促进了岭南文化和学术的发展，湛的书院教育成就来自于他高效的管理，他强调认同天理的宗旨，以及他突出德学兼备的教育理念。
